Hamas movement organised yesterday mass protests across the Gaza Strip to express solidarity with the Palestinians who face continued Israeli crimes at Al-Aqsa in the holy month of Ramadan.

Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qasem has said that the protests are aimed at sending a message to the Israeli occupation that Al-Aqsa is not alone, and the Palestinians are prepared to defend the mosque at any cost.

“These mass protests also send a message to the Israeli occupation that the Palestinian people are united in the face of Israeli violations,” Qasem added.

The Hamas spokesperson hailed the steadfast Palestinian people in Jerusalem and at Al-Aqsa, calling on the Palestinian residents of the West Bank and the 1948 occupied territories to march there.

Qasem welcomed official statements that condemned Israeli occupation’s violent attacks on Palestinian worshipers but he emphasised that they are not enough.  He also urged the Arab and Muslim countries, along with the free peoples of the world, to translate the statements into actions in response to the Israeli occupation’s crimes.

The Hamas spokesperson also called on international human rights organisations to express their position towards the current circumstances in Jerusalem.
