Hamas movement hosted this evening around thirty diplomats and ambassadors in a mass iftar meal organized in Doha.

Iftar is the evening meal Muslims have when they break the fast in the holy month of Ramadan.

A number of senior members of the Hamas politburo received the invitees, including head of the Hamas political bureau Ismail Haniyeh.

At the Iftar, Haniyeh briefed the attendants on the oppression endured by the Palestinian people for 70 years. The top Hamas official explained the repeated Israeli attacks and violations against Palestinians and their holy places, the most recent of which was the Israeli crackdown at the al-Aqsa Mosque on the fourteenth day of the holy month.

Haniyeh explained that the current Israeli government is the most extremist.

Hamas works on three tracks to face the Israeli plans and the current political developments—preparedness to defend the Israeli occupation, promoting Palestinian unity, and coordination with Islamic and Arab countries, Haniyeh said.

The senior Hamas official called on the Arab and Muslim countries to further support the steadfastness of the Palestinian people and mobilise political support for the Palestinian cause at international forums. Haniyeh also called for isolating the Israeli occupation.

The top Hamas official thanked the diplomats who accepted the invitation for the iftar and described it as an “opportunity to remind the world of its political, humanitarian, and moral responsibility” towards Palestine.
