The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas condemns in the strongest possible terms the Israeli occupation’s decision to turn the Jerusalem Citadel, an ancient fortress located near the Hebron Gate in the Old City of occupied Jerusalem, into the so-called “Tower of David Museum” as null and void. 

Such move has no legitimacy as it comes as part of the Israeli occupation’s strenuous effort to alter Jerusalem’s identity and features that will always remain Arab and Islamic. 

Hamas stresses that the Jerusalem Citadel is an inseparable part of Jerusalem’s historic features and Islamic endowment property that will continue to bear witness to its Arab and Muslim identity. 

The Palestinian resistance movement calls on the international community, in general, and the UNESCO, in particular, to act to put an end to the Israeli occupation’s attempts to falsify historical facts and to protect Muslim and Christian sacred sites in the holy city.
