The continued policy of so-called administrative detention - a misnomer for holding detainees without charge or trial - adopted by the Israeli occupation against Palestinians amounts to an organised crime that is being committed in violation of international norms and conventions.

Through such policy, the Israeli occupation exercises oppression against the Palestinian people without being held to account.

The number of Palestinian administrative detainees has surpassed 1,083 detainees. That is a dangerous indicator of how far the Israeli occupation has gone to deny the Palestinian people their freedom.

Palestinian detainees have a right to face the unjust administrative detention and all forms of arbitrary imprisonment that violate basic humanitarian standards by all means possible.

Thus, the open-ended hunger strike that Palestinian administrative detainees are planning to begin on 18 June is a new chapter of the Palestinian struggle against the Israeli occupation inside and outside prisons.
