Hundreds of Palestinians rallied in North Gaza governorate on Friday in protest against a draft Israeli bill to ban Muslim calls to prayer (Adhan) in occupied Jerusalem and the lands of 1948.

In a speech he delivered to protesters in North Gaza, Hamas leader and MP Yousef al-Sharafi asserted that the proposed ban will be foiled by the steadfastness and will of Palestinians.

He deemed the bill an unprecedented assault on Muslims in occupied Palestine.

“This bill is part of schemes that aim to take over al-Aqsa Mosque and to Judaize the holy city and drain it of its Arab and Muslim residents,” al-Sharafi underlined.

He urged the Palestinian Authority “PA” to take the correct side and end its collaboration with the Israeli occupation.

Al-Sharafi extended salutes to the steadfast men and women facing the occupation in Jerusalem and praised Sheikh Raed Salah for his leading role in defending al-Aqsa mosque.

Salah currently serves a 9-month sentence in Israeli jails for his activities and has last week embarked on a hunger strike for 5 days to protest his prison conditions.
