A high-level delegation from Hamas, headed by its politburo chief, Ismail Haniyeh, has met with Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi in Tehran.

The meeting addressed the Palestinian cause and regional and international developments.

The Hamas chief hailed Iran's role in support of the Palestinian cause and people and its president's positions that he expressed in his International Al-Quds Day speech.

Haniyeh briefed Raisi on the situation in Palestine, particularly the Israeli occupation's crimes against the Palestinian people and its schemes targeting the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The top Hamas official also highlighted the catastrophic consequences of the continued Israeli occupation's siege on the Gaza Strip, calling for unifying all efforts to end the 16-year Israeli blockade imposed on the impoverished enclave.

The Iranian President, in turn, reiterated his country's commitment to its unwavering policy of supporting the Palestinian people and resistance in the face of the Israeli occupation.
