Statement on International Day in Support of Victims of Torture

Today marks the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture while the Israeli occupation continues to subject the Palestinian people and detainees to the most heinous forms of torture.

Today marks the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture while the Israeli occupation continues to subject the Palestinian people and detainees to the most heinous forms of torture. This includes physical and psychological torture through the deprivation of the most basic human rights, prevention of medical treatment and family visits, as well as the imposition of solitary confinement.

This is part of a consistent policy pursued by the Israeli occupation and its oppressive government that grossly violates international conventions, norms, laws, and human rights.

In light of this, and in the face of the escalating crimes of torture perpetrated by the Israeli occupation, particularly against children, women, and the sick disregarding all relevant laws and treaties, Hamas underscores the urgent need for all human rights and humanitarian organisations to take action and file lawsuits in international courts against the fascist occupation and its leaders who subject our Palestinian people to such torture.

We call on the Arab and Muslim Ummah and the free peoples of the world to provide further support and demonstrate more solidarity with our just cause until establishing a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
