Chairman of Hamas political bureau Khaled Mishaal has on Thursday spoken over the phone with Lebanon’s Prime Minister Tammam Salam as well as Speaker of the Parliament Nabih Berri and the appointed new Prime Minister Saad Hariri, and urged for the immediate cessation of construction works to erect an isolation wall around the Ein El-Hilweh Palestinian refugee camp.
Mishaal said that the isolation wall hurts refugees and aggravates the difficult humanitarian conditions in the camp, warning that it sends a negative message and threatens the ties between Palestinians and the Lebanese people.
He stressed that Palestinians are concerned about Lebanon’s security and remain careful not to intervene in the country’s internal affairs, asserting that all refugees hold dearly the right to return to their homeland in Palestine.
