Hamas movement has penned a letter of condemnation to the British Consul General in Jerusalem Ms Diane Corner to condemn a law that bans boycotting the Israeli occupation.

In the letter, Hamas explained to Ms Corner that boycott campaigns against the Israeli occupation make an effective means of the 'popular and civil struggle' that aims to pressure the Israeli occupation into complying with international law.

The movement listed some Israeli occupation crimes that legitimise the boycott. The violations include: forcible displacement of Palestinians, settlement plans, annexation schemes, colonial expansion, and demolition of Palestinian homes, in addition to the killing of Palestinian children, women, and civilians.

Hamas said that this law contradicts freedom of expression and impedes solidarity with the Palestinian people through peaceful activities.

Rather, the UK should support the prosecution of Israeli leaders and settlers at the "courts of the countries that signed the charters of human rights, international humanitarian law, the Geneva Act,” Hamas added.

Hamas emphasised that it will continue to work with advocates of human rights and freedom around the world and friends in the UK” in support of the Palestinian cause.
