The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas has praised a speech made by the UN Special Rapporteur on the occupied Palestinian territory, Francesca Albanese, at the UN Human Rights Council.

Member of Hamas Political Bureau in Gaza, Basem Naim, called on the international community, including the UN Security Council, to take all measures needed to curb the Israeli occupation’s violations against the Palestinian people.

In a press statement Tuesday, Naim highlighted the Palestinian people’s rights to “have self-determination, return to their homeland and enjoy freedom and justice.”

Speaking at the UN Human Rights Council on Monday, Albanese said: “Israel’s military occupation has morphed the entire occupied Palestinian territory into an open-air prison, where Palestinians are constantly confined, surveilled and disciplined”.
