On the passing of a resolution by the US House of Representatives proclaiming that the Israeli occupation is not an apartheid state, Hamas official Basem Naim stated the following:

The resolution of the US House of Representatives proclaiming the Israeli occupation “is not a racist or apartheid state” that was passed with an overwhelming majority emphasises the US’ insistence to provide a cover for the ‘gang’ that occupies Palestine and violates the rights of the Palestinian people.

The House of Representatives voted on this resolution despite the UN and international reports that confirm this description based on legal evidence.

We believe that this vote will not grant the Israeli occupation any legitimacy or impunity from prosecution as an apartheid state. The Israeli occupation will have the same destiny as the apartheid regime that had ruled South Africa with support from the US.

The US insistence to violate international law and rather support the ‘jungle law’ will not bring any stability or security inside or outside the region.
