On the burning of a copy of the Holy Quran in Sweden, Ezzat al-Risheq, a member of Hamas Political Bureau, stated the following:

The approval of a protest in Sweden that involved the burning of a copy of the Holy Quran is not only an action that spreads hatred but also a clear violation of divine laws and international norms. 

Hamas strongly condemns this despicable act, as it deeply provokes the feelings of the Muslim Ummah and highlights the disturbing racism exhibited by both the protesters and those who protected them. 

We reiterate our strong condemnation of this abhorrent act and call for the prohibition of such actions conducted in the name of freedom.
