Press release issued by the Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas concerning the latest visit to Egypt.
The Islamic Resistance Movement's delegation to Egypt concluded a visit that lasted for some days. The senior Hamas leader, Ismail Haniyeh, headed the delegation, which also included Musa Abu Marzok and Rawhi Mushtaha; both are members of Hamas political Bureau.
A series of fruitful meetings were held with the Egyptian officials, most notably the general Khaled Faozi; the minister of the Egyptian General intelligence. The meetings addressed a number of significant political issues, the joint relations between Palestine and Egypt and the Palestinian reconciliation. In addition, the consultations discussed the internal circumstances of the Gaza Strip in light of the ongoing Israeli blockade, which has already taken a heavy toll on the lives of the Palestinian people at the coastal enclave.
The two sides discussed the security conditions on the borders between Gaza and Egypt and the Hamas delegation reiterated the group's firm stances regarding the relations with Egypt, which is characterized by not interfering in the internal Egyptian affairs and its concern for the national Egyptian and Arab security. The delegation also stressed that the Palestinian people believe that the Egyptian and the Arab blood sacred.
The Hamas delegation was informed about the Egyptian vision explained by the minister regarding all the topics that have been discussed during the course of the visit. Hamas expressed its great hopes that this vision will have positive outcomes on the Palestinian cause and the Palestinian and Egyptian people alike.
The delegation has agreed with the Egyptian minister to continue holding talks and discussions regarding the current new developments of the Palestinian cause, particularly: Jerusalem, settler-colonialism, prisoners, blockade, and the continuous Palestinian hardship in the wake of what is taking place in the region.
The head and the members of Hamas visiting delegation expressed their sincere gratitude to the Egyptian minister and his assistants for the generous host during their stay in Egypt, and gave their best wishes for Egypt and its people to maintain their pioneering position locally and internationally.
