The representative of the Islamic Resistance Movement 'Hamas' in Lebanon, Ali Baraka, called upon the Lebanese authorities to impose security in Burj Al-Barajneh neighbourhood and to prosecute the armed groups who are located near the vicinity of the camp and who open fire towards the camp from time to time for no political reasons.
Baraka repeatedly condemned the sad events in Burj Al-Barajneh confirming that the incidents which flared up were between two families, one Palestinian and the other Lebanese and had no political or factional basis.
He affirmed that Hamas aims to maintain security in the Palestinian camps in Lebanon asserting the importance of the joint efforts needed to strengthen the Palestinian-Lebanese fraternal relations as part of the efforts made by the Lebanese and Palestinian political parties to contain the clashes.
A political official of Hamas in Burj Al-Barajneh was injured. Baraka said that Qassem was shot in the back by a sniper outside the camp. His injury was described as moderate and he is receiving treatment in El Makased hospital in Beirut.
