Hamas stresses that it does not have any relation with the drastic salary cuts that the Palestinian Authority (PA) has imposed on its workers in the Gaza Strip. The Ramallah-based government and the PA's Chairman, Mahmoud Abbas are fully responsible for the crisis in light of silence from Fatah movement.
The Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas issued the following press release concerning the ongoing salary cut crisis:
Hamas stresses that it does not have any relation with the drastic salary cuts that the Palestinian Authority (PA) has imposed on its workers in the Gaza Strip. The Ramallah-based government and the PA's Chairman, Mahmoud Abbas are fully responsible for the crisis in light of silence from Fatah movement.
Hamas expresses its solidarity and voices its full support for the PA workers who have had their salaries slashed stressing that this crisis deepens the already dire economic and social circumstances in the besieged Gaza Strip.
We call on all political factions and other national sides to exert efforts in order to put Abbas under pressure to retract the unjust decision and to halt the biased policy against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip. This policy will enhance the disconnect between Gaza and the West Bank.
We urge the Arab League, The Islamic Cooperation Foundation, the European Union, and the United Nation to intervene to stop this absurdity so that we can avoid any bad consequences that might take place if the crisis remained unresolved.
