The Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, said that the results of the student elections that took place Tuesday at Al-Najah National University, which showed clear progress of the Islamic bloc "Muslim Palestine bloc" from last elections held at the university, are proof of the real failure of the on-going security coordination policies taking place against the movement in the West Bank.
A spokesman for the movement, Hussam Badran, said in a press statement on Tuesday evening that the Israeli Occupation is aware of the danger of the progression of the Islamic bloc in Al-Najah University, despite its oppressive policies against the bloc’s students in the West Bank.
Badran also noted that all the attempts of the occupation and the PA to suppress the members of the Islamic bloc through security coordination at the highest levels did not succeed and will not succeed in curbing their progress or preventing them from leading the electoral scene in major Palestinian universities.
It is noteworthy that the Islamic bloc at An-Najah National University, was able to garner 34 seats in the student council elections held on Tuesday, which increased by one seat from the last student elections held at the University in 2013. This progress came despite all the prosecution measures taken against students, both by the Israeli Occupation and the Palestinian Authority, by placing them under political detention.
