Hamas leader, Ismail Haniyeh, visited the grave of the movement’s founder, Sheikh Ahmed Yassin, located in the Sheikh Radwan graveyard in the centre of Gaza City.
On Monday afternoon, Haniyeh prayed for mercy on Sheikh Yassin's soul in his first appearance after being elected as the movement's political bureau chief.
This came after Haniyeh visited the solidarity tent supporting the prisoners located in Saraya square in Gaza City, stressing during his speech at the tent that the issue of prisoners was and remains a top priority of the leadership of Hamas.
On Saturday, Hamas had ended all stages of the elections for its institutions at home and abroad, during which Haniyeh was elected head of the political bureau after gaining approval of the movement's Shura Council.
