The Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, denounced the closure of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Gaza which has in effect denied thousands of poor families its humanitarian assistance, particularly to those whose homes were destroyed in previous Israeli aggressions launched on the Gaza Strip.
Fawzi Barhoum, a spokesman for the movement, said “We had expected that the OIC would expand its scope of work and increase its services and not add a new crisis to the already impoverished Strip”.
Barhoum called on the organization, represented by its Secretary-General, Dr. Yousef bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen, to reconsider the decision and not to respond to any pressure aimed at tightening the siege on Gaza and exacerbating the suffering of its people.
He called on the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to continue to carry out its moral and humanitarian duty towards besieged Gaza.
