Deputy of Hamas’ Legislative Council in Tulkarm, Abdul Rahman Zidan, has warned of any attempts aiming to negotiate the issue of hunger-striking prisoners on their behalf, whether these attempts are carried out by Palestinian security leaders, Palestinian Civil Affairs Ministry or the Minister of Detainees.

Zidan expressed his fear of negotiation attempts between Israeli and Palestinian sides, labelling them as mere preparations for the unwelcomed visit of US President, Donald Trump, to the region, further noting that the pain of prisoners can only be felt by those who have experienced their conditions, and the prisoners alone are responsible for the outcome of their strike.

"We expect the official level to address the international stage in a language commiserating with the crisis and hunger of the prisoners as well as their grieving families. An issue like this needs to be addressed by the Palestinian President without further notice as well as providing much needed support for them and their families”.

He described the PA’s on-going suppression of solidarity marches with the prisoners as a “ serious deviation from the correct path which will eventually lead to the loss of the principles”.

The legislative MP explained that the prisoners on their 34th consecutive day of strike face extreme dangers which threaten their lives.
