The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in the occupied West Bank called for Friday to be a day of mass solidarity with the hunger strikers in the Israeli Occupation prisons who have been on hunger strike since the 17th of April.

In a press release, Hamas  called upon the Palestinian people to consider the 40th day of the detainees’ strike  as a day of supporting the hunger strikers who have been  transferred to hospitals. It also called for defending Al-Aqsa Mosque which is subjected to a fierce attack and  to unprecedented violations by the Israeli Occupation Forces and settlers.

Hamas affirmed that the health condition of the hunger strikers is critically deteriorating,  which requires a serious stand and more supportive activities.

Hamas  also called upon the Islamic and Arab nations and the free people of the world to stand by the heroic hunger strikers and to support  Al Aqsa and the holy places  through urgent  intervention  by all possible means.  It called for  holding events aimed at placing real pressure on  the occupation.
