The head of the Political Bureau of the Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh, on Wednesday evening, called the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, to congratulate his country for being elected as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council.
Haniyeh said that the election of Kuwait in the Security Council reflects its important position on the world stage.
He added that this election would strengthen the Kuwaiti-Arab position in supporting the Palestinian cause in international forums.
Haniyeh wished the Amir of Kuwait success in his efforts to achieve Arab reconciliation and protect the Gulf integrity.
For his part, Prince Sabah conveyed his congratulations to the Palestinian people, pointing out that the presence of Kuwait in the Security Council will serve the Arab nation.
He reiterated Kuwait's firm position in supporting the Palestinian people, expressing his wishes to also achieve unity between Arab nations during the holy month of Ramadan.
