The spokesperson of Hamas. Hussam Badran said in a TV speech that the Israeli Occupation is the only side that benefits from the Palestinian split, and that the ongoing contact between Hamas and Fatah is in the right direction.

He added that the Palestinian people are the best sponsor for the internal reconciliation, noting that Hamas paved the way for the Palestinian government to start working in Gaza.

He said that a meeting will be held in Cairo between Hamas and Fatah following the government’s visit to Gaza. This meeting will be followed with another one which will  gather all the Palestinian factions.

Pertaining to the negotiations and the settlement choice, Badran confirmed that this path failed to achieve the minimal goals for the Palestinian people and it is no longer an acceptable choice for them.

He noted as well that the Israeli Occupation works hard to sabotage Hamas’s  moves on the Arab and international arena, affirming that this will not dissuade Hamas from its attempts to initiate talks in all directions.

Bardran concluded by saying that having Russia as a regional power that backs the Palestinian reconciliation can push it forward to success, at a time when the United States exerts   extreme pressure against achieving the Palestinian unity.
