The number of Palestinian detainees who died inside Israeli jails due to the Israeli policy of medical negligence has hit 218, an annual report published recently highlighted.

According to the report, 750 Palestinian detainees held in the Israeli jails are sick, including about 200 detainees suffering from serious diseases, 34 of whom were diagnosed with cancer and 70 of them suffer from physical and psychological disabilities.

The report added that many of the sick detainees are in a critical health condition and need life-saving surgeries and medical care, noting that the Israeli Prison Service deliberately denies the Palestinian prisoners access to medical treatment.

Many detainees were shot and wounded, as they were arrested by Israeli Occupation forces, the reported showed.

It is worth noting that the 51-year-old Palestinian prisoner Faris Baroud, detained in Israeli jails since 1991, died on Wednesday after he was denied access to medical care, despite his critical health condition.

Baroud’s death raised the number of Palestinian detainees who died due to medical negligence in the Israeli jails to 218.
