Hamas mourned on Sunday evening the death of 47-year-old Palestinian detainee Bassam al-Sayeh after he had suffered from cancer and endured medical negligence in Israeli jails.

In a press release, Hamas stressed that al-Sayeh died due to deliberate medical negligence in Israeli prisons, which had deteriorated his health condition and led to his death while under detention.

Hamas held the Israeli occupation fully responsible for al-Sayeh’s death and for its ongoing suppression of Palestinian detainees, especially the sick prisoners.

The Palestinian resistance movement called on the Palestinian people to intensify their protests against aggressive Israeli practices targeting Palestinian detainees and use all means of resistance possible to face off the occupation.
