A high-level delegation from Hamas met Saturday with Grand Mufti of Russia Sheikh Rawil Gaynetdin at the Moscow Grand Mosque in the Russian capital, Moscow.
Led by the head of Hamas' International Relations Office Mousa Abu Marzouq, the delegation consisted of members of Hamas Political Bureau Fathi Hammad and Husam Badran, in addition to the movement's representative in Moscow.
The meeting was also attended by officials from the Russian Council of Muftis.
The Hamas delegation briefed the Russian grand mufti on the latest Israeli occupation assaults on Jerusalem and the systematic attempts to Judaise the holy city.
The delegation, in addition, discussed how to foil Israeli occupation plots targeting Jerusalem and enhance the role played by Russia's Muslim community in support of Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Sheikh Gaynetdin stressed that the council is closely following up on what is happening in occupied Jerusalem, reaffirming the Muslim community's support for the Palestinian people.
The grand mufti of Russia updated the Hamas delegation on the strenuous efforts being exerted by Russian Muslims to serve the Palestinian cause and reinforce the Palestinian steadfastness in the face of the occupation.
The Hamas delegation hailed the Muslim community in Russia for backing the Palestinian people and their just cause and the Muslim Spiritual Authority and the Council of Muftis of Russia for their efforts.
