The Israeli occupation army shot dead Palestinian citizen Ahmad Hassan Kahla, 45, at point-blank range near Silwad town in the occupied West Bank city of Ramallah two weeks ago – a new crime added to the Israeli criminal record against the Palestinian people, which is mounting due to a lack of accountability amid international silence.

Kahla's killing, which was carried out in cold blood and under false pretexts, proves that summary executions have become an approach adopted by the Israeli occupation army.

Summary executions of Palestinians have recently skyrocketed. Last year, the Israeli occupation army killed around 230 Palestinians in the occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip.

More than 70 of them have been executed in cold blood without posing a threat to Israeli occupation forces.

So far this year, the Israeli occupation military has killed 30 Palestinians, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.

Jamil Sarhan, deputy director of the Independent Commission for Human Rights, said that Kahla's execution is a continuation of the same policy adopted by the Israeli occupation about a year ago to relax open-fire regulations against Palestinians, which has resulted in a spike in Israeli killings and crimes.

"The US bias and support for the Israeli occupation will not undermine our quest for justice," he explained. "We will continue to demand international law to be applied and human rights to be respected."

Sarhan underlined the role of human rights groups in documenting Israeli violations and shed on the plight of the Palestinian people under occupation, calling for intensifying efforts at all levels in this regard.

The human rights advocate called for filing complaints with the International Criminal Court (ICC), urging the Hague-based court's prosecutor to open a thorough investigation into the crimes and violations perpetrated by the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people.

He emphasized the necessity for all international parties to work towards putting an end to such policy and pressure the Israeli occupation into restricting its open-fire rules against the Palestinian people.

Political analyst Adnan al-Sabbah said that the atrocious killings of Palestinians bear witness to the absence of accountability of Israeli occupation soldiers, giving them a greenlight to continue executing Palestinians.

Al-Sabbah expected a dramatic surge in summary executions of Palestinians as the new extremist Israeli occupation government has adopted a heinous policy based on driving the Palestinian people off their homeland, seizing their lands, and liquidating the Palestinian cause.

He called on all Palestinian factions to embrace a political program based on national unity to defend the Palestinian people.
