In late April 2021, Israeli settler groups planned to evict dozens of Palestinian homes in the Sheikh Jarrah neighbourhood located in East Jerusalem. The Israeli colonial plans aimed to displace Palestinians and take over take over their homes and property.   

The resistance warned the Israeli occupation against these colonial expansion schemes. But the Israeli occupation continued to provoke Palestinians in Jerusalem and at the Al-Aqsa mosque.

At a time of high intention, Israeli occupation forces stormed Al-Aqsa for the second time to guard the provocative Israeli ‘flag march’ led by extremist settlers to celebrate the Israeli occupation of East Jerusalem in 1967, a move that prompted a response from the Palestinian resistance.

The Israeli occupation forces injured more than 250 Palestinian protesters at Al-Aqsa on May 10, according to the International Committee of the Red Cross. Amnesty International described the Israeli forces' actions as “brutal repression” and “unwanted and excessive force against Palestinians”.

“Evidence gathered by Amnesty International reveals a chilling pattern of Israeli forces using abusive and wanton force against largely peaceful Palestinian protesters,” Amnesty International commented.

For Palestinians, both Muslim and Christian, Jerusalem is the eternal capital of Palestine and a symbol of their national and religious identity.

On the same day of the provocative march, the Israeli occupation launched a large-scale offensive against the Gaza Strip, targeting residential buildings and homes, and killing dozens of civilians, including, women and children.

The occupation's warplanes continued to bombard Gaza for eleven days, leaving 261 Palestinians dead. Around 67 of the fatalities were children. More than 2200 Palestinians were wounded in this Israeli offensive as well.

The majority of Israeli targets in Gaza were civilian locations in the 11-day Israeli offensive on Gaza. More than 1770 housing units were totally or partially damaged and more than 113,000 Palestinians sought shelter in UNRWA-run schools.

Gaza still suffers from the consequences of the Israeli aggression, waiting for promises of reconstruction.

Although the Gaza Strip is still healing from the devastation the Israeli occupation caused in 2021, Israeli warplanes launched another offensive on the Gaza Strip on May 9, 2023.

In predawn airstrikes, Israeli occupation forces killed thirteen Palestinians—eight women and children were among the victims. The Israeli warplanes hit Gaza later on the same day, leaving another two Palestinians dead.

Hamas said in a press release that the Israeli occupation has launched a new offensive against Gaza, noting that these crimes will not go unpunished.

The movement, along with all Palestinian resistance factions, preserves the right to respond to Israeli state-led terrorism and aggression, as international law gives people under occupation the right to resist the occupying power with all means possible.
