According to the Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs, a group of forty-three Palestinian children are being held in the Israeli occupation's prison of Al-Damon.

Disturbingly, these children have been enduring extremely harsh and inhumane detention conditions that fail to meet even the most basic international standards for the rights of children and prisoners, the Palestinian rights organisation reported.

The report highlights that these young detainees face severe deficiencies in crucial aspects such as lighting, ventilation, nourishment, clothing, and hygiene within the notorious jail of Al-Damon.

The Al-Damon prison service routinely subject the young Palestinian detainees to verbal abuse, physical beatings, and isolation, not to mention the additional collective punishment imposed on them when the occupation forces broke into sections within the infamous jail, the rights group emphasized.
Currently, 170 minors are being held in the occupation prisons, with 43 detainees in the Al-Damon Prison. The youngest among them is Hamza Salim Hijab, a 14-year-old detainee who experienced severe beatings and abuse both during arrest and interrogation.

The commission has examined the case of Wassim Rushdi Bishkar, a child detainee who was transferred to solitary confinement in the Al-Jalama jail for 25 days after his arrest. During his interrogation, he was handcuffed and had his feet restrained, leading to significant harm.

By the end of 2022, the number of Palestinian detainees in Israeli occupation jails had reached 4,700, including 29 women, nearly 150 minors, 850 detainees held without charge or trial, including seven children, and 15 journalists, according to Palestinian prisoners' rights groups.

Some 600 sick Palestinian detainees have been languishing in Israeli occupation prisons, including nearly 200 who suffer from chronic diseases and 24 with tumours and cancer at various stages. 

The Israeli occupation prison service continues to violate the rights of prisoners of all ages. This occurs in the absence of international human rights institutions and completely disregards humanitarian treaties and agreements.
